Chris Brown, PhD

Chris has been solving sustainability issues throughout his career, both as a scientist and in finance.  He has expertise in technology development and commercialization, financing sustainability companies at both the early and growth stage and operational experience with both large multi-national and startup size companies.  

 

Chris has spent the last five years as a Principal with Sustainable Growth Management, a PE fund focused on growth stage sustainability companies.  Prior to that he spent seven years in venture capital, investing in and working with management to build value in early stage sustainability companies.  His investments and board experience include battery storage technology; clear air/power via oxidizer; clean diesel additives; high efficiency, low cost fractional motors; waste heat capture and refrigeration; industrial waste water cleanup; renewable natural gas from chicken manure; and rooftop solar for low to middle income homes.  Chris earned a PhD in physics from North Carolina State University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
