Sunflower Fuels
Sunflower Fuels is on a mission to unlock the power of rural communities and farmland by growing energy crops to support the U.S. economy.

Our long-term goal is to help coal towns and rural areas thrive again—this time as leaders in a cleaner, circular economy.

We’re focused on developing and supporting the growth of Miscanthus, a fast-growing, low-maintenance plant that pulls carbon from the air. Working with partners around the world—from manufacturers and energy providers to government agencies—we’re bringing Miscanthus production to Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and West Virginia.

To start, Miscanthus will be used in products like renewable food packaging and animal bedding. As larger markets grow, it will play a key role in clean energy—like heating pellets, sustainable fuels (including SAF and biodiesel), and even carbon capture solutions.

There’s a huge demand for renewable, plant-based energy sources—and not enough supply. That’s the gap Sunflower Fuels is here to fill.
